Early in 1978 a small group of Catholics in Hawley approached Bishop Victor Balke of the Crookston Diocese about building a church in Hawley. Bishop Balke approved proceeding with the new church to be named St. Andrew's Catholic Church. On September 7, 1980, Bishop Balke presided over the church dedication.
Since the initial build, St. Andrew's Catholic Church has had three additional phases of development, culminating in the third phase and the building of the new addition with the new addition dedication in 2011. Initially there were 69 family units registered at St. Andrew's and now we have surpassed 190 family units and still growing.
St. Andrew's Catholic Church is a Christian community where all are welcome. Guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we strive to meet the spiritual needs of all through the sacraments, religious education, and worship. We seek to live an example of holiness and encourage one another as we journey toward eternal life.
